Kayakers and canoeists will be pleased with the location of this property inside a small bay, sheltered behind Heriot Island. The cottage is situated on the top of a hill, with a wide path following the creek down to a large grassy area with apple trees and a lovely pond beside the beach. There is good space on the grassy lawn in the shade for private kayaks and canoes, safely away from the tide. There is a wall built up to keep this area elevated, and at high tide the ocean comes right up to the steps for an easy carry and put-in. At low tide, beachcombing is excellent, and you will be able to walk all the way out to Heriot Island and look at sand dollars, starfish, crabs and shells.
The cottage has a wonderful glassed-in deck with great sun exposure, and a view of the ferry leaving Heriot Bay and heading to Cortez Island. The property is well-landscaped with lots of area to play. The interior offers views of the ocean from almost every room! The light-colored walls and bamboo vinyl flooring offer a nice, neutral colour that is cosy with the natural light streaming in from the sunlight, windows and sliding glass door.
The living room has a woodstove for staying cosy in the wintertime.curl up on the chesterfield with a hot chocolate and watch the offseason storms roll in from the southeast! A propane burner and generator are available in the event of a power failure in winter. A large 37 inch television has satellite channels and music.
Both the kitchen and living room are open concept to the dining room, where the table is located into a solarium-like corner with windows on all sides. The kitchen is fully outfitted with electric oven, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, microwave, large pantry and lots of countertop work spaces.
At the opposite end of the cottage is the master bedroom with a queen bed, and the second bedroom has a bunk bed with a double bottom and single top. The bathroom is centrally located in between the living area and bedrooms, with shower and a deep 5 foot tub. All the halls and doorways are wide enough to accommodate a walker.
The backdoor off the driveway has a mudroom and laundry closet with lots of space for everyone's outdoor clothing. There is a wireless signal available from the Heriot Bay Inn, but this is not reliable all of the time. Internet access is close by at the library or Inn for those who need to check messages.
